Revaluation Surplus

Revaluation surplus arises when the carrying value of an asset is increased because its fair value exceeds its previous book value under an allowed revaluation model. The increase is usually not treated as ordinary profit but is recorded separately in equity under applicable accounting standards. It reflects unrealized value growth in the asset.
