Hypothecation

Hypothecation is the pledging of an asset as security for a loan while the borrower continues to retain ownership and possession of the asset. It is commonly used for inventory, receivables, or movable assets. If the borrower defaults, the lender has the right to enforce recovery against the pledged asset.
