Hurdle Rate

The hurdle rate is the minimum return required before a company accepts an investment or project. It acts as a benchmark for evaluating whether a proposal is financially worthwhile. Projects earning below the hurdle rate are generally rejected because they do not justify the risk or cost of capital.
